FAA NPRM Would Require Aircraft Re-Registration Every Three Years

Mar 10, 2008 :: In an effort to increase the validity of its aircraft registry, the FAA published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would require every aircraft owner to re-register an aircraft within a certain timeframe, and then complete a registration renewal every three years thereafter. The FAA estimates that approximately 30 percent of its 343,000 aircraft registrations are incorrect. If adopted as proposed, this new re-registration process, much like state automobile registration requirements, would increase the burden on aircraft owners and impart penalties on owners who do not comply with the registration requirements.
